Although people generally learn to play a musical instrument because they want to and are consequently highly motivated, HWDMS has its own programme of regular assessment managed through registers along with a certified scheme of ‘Levels of Attainment’ which is a continuous appraisal programme providing guidance and monitoring of pupils progress. These ‘levels of Attainment’ are categorised into three easy to follow levels: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced and are broken down into specific areas of technique and performance practise to aid comprehensive assessment. However, pupils and parents are encouraged to speak to the tutors directly about their progress on a regular basis.
