HWDMS is a teaching service with no links to commercial instrument retailers. Essentially, you can get your instrument from anywhere you like as there are numerous reputable retailers in the area, all offering instrument rental schemes and purchase facilities.

However there are certain instrument retailers who HWDMS recommend, and we advise you to rent your instrument initially, wherever possible.

Generally the minimum period of hire is three months which enables a full term of instrumental lessons with HWDMS to take place. Some tips for instrument purchase:

• Price reflects quality.
• Always compare like for like to give an accurate reflection of charges.
• Look for retailers who can offer expert and specialist advice.
• Look for retailers who offer hire schemes.
• Look for retailers who offer a support service (e.g. repairs, delivery etc.).
